With Spring peeking its head right around the corner, I've been itching to try out a few trends that seem to be popping up all over the place. It seems that this season, it's all about color and texture to liven up the lackluster leftovers of Winter. Here are the trends I'm excited to try...

• The colorful mule: Statement pieces are not just reserved for the upper half of an outfit. I love the whimsy of a bright shoe, and when paired with a classic style like the mule, it's a no-brainer way to have some fashion fun while still maintaining a classic look.
• The embroidered denim: Calling all 70's lovers-this trend is just what you've been waiting for. Embroidered denim is the perfect way to mix feminine touches with more masculine pieces. Spice up your go-to denim jacket with a fun and flirty embroidered pattern for some extra pizzaz. 
• The dainty choker: Although the choker trend is by no means new, I am definitely partial to the look of a dainty wrap around over the thick chokers that have been popular in the colder months. With just a little bit of glitz, you can sparkle in a sexy yet demure way!
• The bold lip: Don't put your berry hues and deep reds to bed just because it's warming up outside. A bold lip is just as spring appropriate and can help balance out lighter, brighter spring shades.
• The oversized round sunnies: As the sun stays around longer, keep your eyes fashionably shielded with a fierce pair of oversized sunglasses. It's no secret that round glasses have been all the rage lately, so amp up the size and protect those eyes!

I was never much of a planner girl. In the past, I'd pick up a planner at the store, use it for maybe 2 weeks and then chuck it in a drawer at home to eventually collect dust. However, last August, I purchased my first Ban.do planner and nearly one year later, I still use that sucker every single day! It's the perfect mix of fun and function without feeling too juvenile. The page layouts suit my large handwriting and the fun and artistic graphics have me flipping through the pages just because!

As we near a new school year, I decided to pick up a new agenda. Ban.do just released their new agendas for the 2017 year (they begin August of 2016) and I didn't want to risk waiting and having my agenda sell out! I picked up this gorgeous floral bad boy with an accompanying dual sticker pack (because, duh, i needed that). Safe to say I will be heading into my senior year of college feeling incredibly organized and pretty damn cool!

It's been quite some time since I've posted on my blog. I would apologize for my absence, however, I don't necessarily think that time away is always a bad thing. The past six months have been absolute chaos for me. I finished up my junior year of college-a year that was far busier than I ever imagined. I lost my grandmother (and best friend). I've been working nonstop. And on top of all of that, I've been trying to move forward, finding out who I am and where I want to be going in life.

I never wanted this blog to be a chore. I've always been a pretty type-A, by the books person, but with a raging need for creativity and productivity. That's what started this blog to begin with. I ached for a personal outlet where I could spill my thoughts and feelings on topics that were both frivolous and provoking. Is anyone reading this? Maybe not. But as selfish as it sounds, this blog is more for me than for anyone.

I now feel ready to jump back into the blogging world and let my thoughts spill over as they once did. I hope going forward, this blog will seem more genuine. More in tune with my personal feelings and stances and less about keeping up with blogging trends and the latest social media crazes. If you are looking for a professional (and nowadays standard) fashion & lifestyle blog to follow, maybe this one isn't for you. However, if you can connect to a 20-something girl from the midwest, who is finding her way and finding herself, I welcome you on the journey with me.
