With spring in the air and summer nipping at our feet (no pun intended), I've been totally obsessing over revamping my shoe closet. I love anything nude for summer, as it elongates the leg and looks fresh put together with any outfit. Here are 4 nude shoes I'm really loving for the summer months ahead!
First and foremost, allow me to apologize for my theoretical online absence. I sit here, a little taken aback, that I'm apologizing for not being glued to my computer, but as a self-proclaimed "content creator", i take my dedication to this blog very seriously. You see, I've been swept up and carried away by second semester of my junior year of college. My classes are intense. The assignments seem endless. And I continuously wonder, "where am I going from here?"
The thing is, I've been blessed with a quality that is also a daunting curse. I am inspired by so many things around me. I crave learning new anecdotes of information. I have a knack for different fields and topics of information. So where could I be going wrong? As an *almost* senior in college, it's an overwhelming feeling to be unsure of my place in the world. Where will I be in five years? Ten? Will I have a masters degree or doctorate? Will I be working in my blossoming and bustling hometown or will opportunity have relocated me? Will I be working within the policy and administration sector or teaching? (Two areas I am very interested in). My point here is that as I get back into the swing of school, I never want my blog to feel neglected. My readers-no my online peers-are very important to me. Not because you click on my posts or leave a comment (although, I absolutely love hearing from you all!), but because we share an understanding that sometimes, we all need a superficial escape from the complexities of the real world. I may not have it all figured out, but as I find my way, I'll be turning to this little blog for motivation and reassurance. May the posts commence!
A fun fact you may not know about me is that I am an avid watch fan! Maybe it stems from my years working in a watch retailer, but there's something about a classic timepiece that I find captivating. I actually have quite the collection (21 watches to be exact), but I'm always looking to add to my stash with the latest and greatest styles. Here are three watches that are catching my eye this season.
One: The Masculine Masterpiece
I love a manly feeling watch. I would venture to say that the majority of the watches I own are oversized, menswear-inspired timepieces. This Lexington watch by Michael Kors features an all metal, 5-link band and a traditional gold plating: 2 things I love in a watch. Further, the navy face with the bright red second hand really compliment the overall masculine feel of the watch.
Two: Wearable Art
Ok, can we talk seriously for a moment? How stunning is this watch? It is practically a beautiful piece of artwork that sits on your wrist and will also tell you the time. This gorgeous marble & rose gold masterpiece is a collaboration between watch connoisseur Fossil and fashion power house Opening Ceremony. Together, the two companies came together to create a watch that is equally functional and beautiful, and so incredibly unique.
Three: Big Face & A Barely-There Band
My final watch pick is a little surprising because I normally opt for a metal band vs. a traditional leather band on my watch. However, I absolutely love this mushroom-rose gold combo watch from Marc Jacobs. Not only is the color palette stunning, The combination of the oversized face with the dainty, skinny wrap band is a beautiful contrast that works really well together. I own a watch currently that features this oversized face & skinny band combo and I absolutely love it. (You can check that style out here). Even though I'm usually a tried and true metal band wearer, I'd definitely make room in my wardrobe for this leather luxury.
I find that when it comes to working out, I find that dressing the part really helps me to stay motivated and get excited about gym time. Don't be fooled-physical fitness doesn't have to equate to beat up sneakers and a baggy sweatshirt. Incorporating your everyday style into your athletic attire is an easy task that will have you mistaking the gym for a page out of Harper's Bazaar....maybe. Here are my must-have essentials to stay physically fit and fashionably fabulous!
The Sneaks: These bad boys by Adidas by Stella McCartney will have you trading in your peep toes and stilettos for sneakers even on your off days! From the streets to the treadmill, these babies are too good to pass up!
The Habitually Chic Hydration Source: Don't forget that style extends far beyond the clothes on your back. How we accessorize is equally as important! In the gym, that accessorizing comes in the form of our tools. This water bottle by S'Well is champagne gold and will have you feeling like an oscar nominee every time you reach for a drink.
The Carry-All That's Easy To Clean: If you're like me and you squeeze your gym time in between college classes, than an easy-to clean, easy-on-the-eyes backpack is a gym essential! Opt for one that is nylon, which is almost impossible to ruin with sweat and grime at the gym. It will keep your belongings safe and still add to your athletic appeal!
The Patterned Player: Everyone knows that black clothing is your best bet for a slimming effect, but don't forget to incorporate some fun pattern into your gym get-ups. A bright pattern will keep your spirits lively and will add the perfect touch of pizzazz to your workout regimen.
The Babe-Worthy Bra: A good sports bra is absolutely essential, but don't sacrifice style for support. Opt for a garment that will keep the girls in great condition but will also add to your sporty style.
The Fuss-Free Finishing Touches: Last but certainly not least are these wireless earbuds by Beats. A good workout isn't complete without an upbeat playlist, but pesky headphone wires are a sure fire way to interrupt your jams and your motivation. Don't let your tunes get in the way of your workout, play that playlist loud and clear through these chic, wireless headphones. I bet that gym session is sounding even better now!
It may not be much, but I thought I would share the few items I picked up from Sephora recently, as well as my initial thoughts. Being the inherent saver that I am, I do my best to stay out of that dangerous place unless there is something I truly need. Otherwise, my wallet would probably be out of a job, as I would have no money left to hold onto. Here's what came home with me last week:
Laura Mercier Secret Camouflage Concealer ($34)
Anastasia Beverly Hills Dip Brow Pomade in Soft Brown ($18)
Let me tell you, even the thought of using a product other than Anastasia's Brow Wiz on my eyebrows is enough to put me through an anxious spiral. With that being said, I feel as if every time I experience serious brow envy, I find out that the brows I'm lusting over have been sculpted using the dip brow pomade. So, I put my big girl pants on and decided to venture into the world of the dip brow. I was scared. I was inexperienced. But I forged ahead. Now, to be fair, I tried the pomade about a year and a half ago when it initially came out. I was immediately disappointed because at the time, the pomade came in a very limited shade range and I was left with a color that was either too ashy or too red. Fast forward to modern day, I figured since the shade selection had been expanded, I was destined to give this bad boy another shot.
As far as first impressions go, I'm sad to say that this product was a major let down. I found the consistency to be almost too creamy, making application pretty difficult. Not to mention that as I was working with the product, my eyebrows looked far more unnatural than when I use my brow wiz. I know some swear by this product, and for them it may be a HG item, however for me, I'm sticking with my one true love and not messing with my brow products ever again. (...or so i say...)
Anastasia Beverly Hills #12 Brow Brush ($18)
Finally, to go along with the (failed) pomade, I picked up the Anastasia #12 brush, which is "the essential tool for precision application of brow products", or so says the Sephora website. The brush was so-so in my opinion. I found the synthetic bristles to be a complimentary choice for the cream pomade, however as far as performance goes, I think a denser, natural fiber brush works better on the brows. Additionally, I much prefer to spooly on the Brow Wiz, which is longer and thinner, versus the spooly on the brush. Just my personal preferences there.
I know this was a long one, so thanks for staying 'til the end. I'd love to hear if you've tried out the pomade and what your thoughts are!
